The first full day in Sydney started with a lovely breakfast included with our room in the Glenferrie Lodge. Now that it is light out we can see what an adorable neighborhood (Kirribilli) we are staying in, right across the water from the Sydney Opera House.

We decide to go for a walk and explore our surroundings heading toward McDougall street which is famous for the jacaranda trees. On the way we happen by beautiful architecture, the Ensemble theater where we decide to get a ticket to a show (The Memory of Water) the following night, and a marina.

At the marina we go to the Flying Bear for a coffee and their sign for doglato had nothing to do with it, I swear The view with the coffee is great and right outside is a park.



Next to that is McDougall Street which is indeed covered in blooming jacarandas. It is beautiful but also a working road and we witnessed plenty of locals getting cross with visitors standing in the middle of the road for a photo.

This Australian Brush Turkey didn't seem to mind though.

I did appreciate how thoughtful Australians are for their tourists. Each street tells me exactly which way to look so I won't be smashed.

We continued on towards the bridge and took many, many photos of the bridge and the Opera House right across the water.

Once we hit Luna Park we turned around and headed back towards the hotel.

This took us past more great views like the one from Dr. Mary Booth Lookout.

After a rest we ventured across the water via the ferry to the Opera House.

The ferry dock has a gorgeous Christmas tree right outside which just seems strange to us since it is so hot out.

We did a complete walk around the Opera House getting photos from every angle before settling in for dinner.

We chose Whalebridge right near the Opera House because we wanted wonderful outside views, close to the opera house with food that wouldn't be crazy expensive. We enjoyed some rose wine, a lobster roll with pommes and a baba au rum for dessert.

After dinner we walked back over the Opera House for the Dictionary of Lost Words. The theater was really well presented and used two stories of the stage and multimedia. I had read the book and wasn't sure if I would like it but I very much did.

The ferry back home after the show gave us gorgeous views of the Sydney skyline at night.
