Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb

The entirety of today was going to be dedicated in one way or the other to the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge. It all started with a $5 ferry ride from our Kiribilli neighborhood over to the Opera House for our tour. An adorable french lady gave us our one hour tour covering a large section of the Opera House and it's history. Inside are several performance venues that host over 2,000 shows per year.

In one area she shows us the reflection of the harbor on the sails of the building.

The purple carpet inside one section is a royal color and means heritage here but for some visitors like Italians, it means death.
We were allowed in to the concert hall which was BEAUTIFUL! It had 2,500 seats and several different mechanisms to make the sound as worderful as possible.

At one point we were able to go outside and talked about the ceramic tiles that self clean. They are so smooth that the rain cleans them off but they are hand checked every five years. We get to see some guys checking these Swedish tiles while we are on the tour.

After our tour we have a quick lunch from the Danieli Cafe before I head off to do the Sydney Bridge Climb. I do the Summit Trip that takes 3 hours so Tori went to visit a museum while I did that. The climb group starts with getting suited and geared up. They put you in a cute gray jumpsuit and give you a blue hat to wear.

The climb is slow with frequent breaks and doesn't feel hard at all. Once at the top the company takes a few photos of you and you cross to the other side to descend. I was sad to later see the big cruise ship in the middle of my photo.
We took the ferry back to the hotel to relax and do some laundry. The show tonight was at the Ensemble Theater, a short walk from the hotel. For dinner we decided to go right there at the theater in Bayley's Bistro. I got pea gnocchi and then we walked over to the theater. The show was The Memory of Water about 3 sisters getting together after a long time apart. The theater was cute, tiny and set up as a bedroom. The old man sitting next to us was less than thrilled to find out he was at a show where 3 girls spent time talking about menstruation and menopause. At the intermission we jointly decided to head back to the hotel since it was already late and we had an early flight to Alice Springs in the morning.
